We provide comprehensive project development services to move solar and energy storage projects from early site control through construction readiness. Our team manages site acquisition and leasing, site design and surveying, permitting, title review, environmental and biological studies, and contract development. We take a transparent, collaborative approach to permitting, working closely with local and state agencies to reduce risk, keep projects moving, and reach practical solutions. Through long-term investments in advanced systems and controls, we excel in delivering on complex projects. Our proven track record of high-quality project origination, development, and financing, combined with our expertise in EPC work and dedication to environmental stewardship, guarantee the success of each project.
As part of the Norwich Technologies family of renewable energy companies, Breakaway Renewables has a proven track record of financing high-quality commercial and community-scale solar projects at multiple stages of development. To date, our team of experts have leveraged federal and state incentives in excess of $100M, securing effective, flexible financing solutions that support the long-term success of solar and storage projects while helping business customers and investors maximize project value. As a trusted partner, we provide open, informed communication at every step.
Our well-defined approach brings low-risk and high-value projects to our business customers and investors. We also maintain the in-house expertise necessary to assist investors in maximizing returns associated with both tax equity and/or preferred equity investment in renewable energy projects at any stage.
Norwich Technologies vertically integrated business model makes it possible to purchase clean energy assets in early stages of a project’s lifecycle.
For other developers that may have an early stage project that they don’t have the capacity to bring to completion, or perhaps a fully developed project that no longer fits their business needs or model, Breakaway Renewables will make an ideal partner.
Our proprietary tools, process, and experience can be leveraged to complete the project, providing alternate revenue streams for the developer and keeping our region's clean energy goals on track. We can handle the financing, construction, and customer management.

Mike’s journey to his current career of IT manager began on an Apple IIe in his 3rd grade classroom. This interest was further bolstered by a few summers at computer camp in the basement of Stone Hall on the Greenway Institute campus (where Norwich Technologies currently has an office). A brief detour led Mike to a political science degree and a decade in the music industry where he did sound at hundreds of weddings, played accordion in an Irish band and bass, guitar, and keys in a country band. Eventually he realized the real rock stars use a different kind of keyboard and so he made his triumphant return to the world of IT.
