Job Title: RunTime Field Technician
Location: Field, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, overnight travel required

Employment Type: Full Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Pay Range: $65,000-$80,000 per year, depending on experience and certifications.

We  work with existing PV systems, installed by Norwich Technologies and others, that range in size from 5 kW to 5 MW, including ground- and roof-mounted, commercial, industrial and utility-scale grid-tied systems.

Role Summary:

The field service technician is an individual with strong organizational and troubleshooting skills to perform service work, warranty work and O&M duties throughout Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. These existing Photovoltaic (PV) Systems, installed by Norwich Technologies and others, range from 1 KW to multiple MW, including both ground-mounted and roof-mounted commercial, industrial, and utility-scale grid-tied systems. Occasional residential work is needed from time to time as well as an increasing amount of EV Charger installations and service. This position will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, documenting, and tracking assignments until completion as well as data analysis using online monitoring platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Respond to service calls as dispatched, move assigned issues forward towards resolution, and seek advice/counsel as needed
• Track case progress and log communications with Service Manager using NetSuite system and other systems as requested
• Troubleshoot and implement code-compliant repairs in the field in a safe and efficient manner
• Document field service notes, and track travel, labor time, and materials used for billing
• Communicate all day-to-day service matters with Service Manager
• Document all site changes/fixes resulting from the O&M work, add reports to be filed to job as archived documentation
• Secure additional field help for service work as needed, coordinating with the field service team.
• Perform PV system commissioning and testing procedures
• Monitor health of PV and EV assets through various platforms
• Assist Asset/Service Manager in feedback loop to NT, Operations, Project Management and Engineering teams by critically examining installations and sharing findings through constructive feedback for constant quality improvement
• Ability to quickly dispatch to sites across the Northeastern US including some overnight travel

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 3+ year minimum experience as a solar PV installer or designer
• Strong understanding of grid-tied solar installation, PV system design, installation commissioning procedures, EV chargers. shutdown/LOTO procedures, troubleshooting, monitoring, and repair
• Knowledge of the NEC and the ability to use and reference the code as required
• Proficient skill with computers, Windows OS, Microsoft Office, Google Suite
• Industrial Communications & Networking knowledge, wired and wireless
• Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail
• Self-starter, positive “can do” attitude, determined problem-solving ability
• Able to work both under instruction and in a self-directed manner as needed
• Valid driver's license is required

Position Summary

Norwich Solar is seeking a skilled Solar Engineer to support the full lifecycle of commercial and utility-scale solar PV projects, from design through commissioning. This senior-level role requires expertise in solar array design, medium voltage (MV) engineering, and NEC compliance, with opportunities to support our emerging electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure division.

We’re looking for a motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong project ownership skills and the ability to collaborate across internal teams (Development, Project Management, Construction) and external partners (utilities, AHJs, contractors). PE licensure—or eligibility for licensure—in Vermont, New York, New Hampshire, or Maine is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Design Engineering

• Develop complete design packages for solar PV systems
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, IEEE, UL, and local building/electrical codes

Medium Voltage Systems

• Engineer MV components (transformers, switchgear, relays, protection schemes)
• Prepare procurement documentation, support vendor evaluations
• Lead or assist with interconnection application packages and utility coordination
• Conduct site visits with utility engineers and ensure conformance to IEEE 1547 and utility specs

Construction & Commissioning Support

• Provide engineering support during construction and commissioning phases
• Review submittals, respond to RFIs, support as-built and redline drawings
• Participate in QA/QC inspections, testing, and troubleshooting
• Perform final commissioning tasks, including Capacity & Performance Testing
• Support warranty transfers, equipment registration, and O&M documentation

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Development, Project Management, and Field teams
• Assist with interconnection documentation and permitting
• Share technical best practices and help improve design tools/templates

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, renewable energy, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in solar PV and medium voltage system design
• Strong command of NEC (Articles 690, 705), NESC, IEEE, and UL standards
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Helioscope, PVsyst, and electrical modeling tools
• Construction-phase experience and field troubleshooting capabilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with energy storage systems (ESS), SCADA/DAS, or microgrids
• Familiarity with utility interconnection in ISO-NE or NYISO territories
• Structural design experience for PV racking and mounting systems
• PE licensure—or eligibility for licensure—in Vermont, New York, New Hampshire, or Maine is preferred.
