About Runamok Maple
Runamok Maple is a premium, organic maple syrup producer located in Northern Vermont. Their products are all-natural, small-batch and uniquely crafted. Spanning 1,100 acres of maple trees in Cambridge and 250 acres in Fairfax, Runamok produces one of Mother Nature’s most exquisite pleasures. Runamok taps a total of 81,000 trees to harvest 2,000,000 gallons of sap.
“We went into business with the philosophy that we were going to make it as environmentally sustainable as possible,” said Laura Sorkin, co-founder of Runamok Maple. “With the production facility, we wanted to make it eco-friendly wherever we could.”
“Runamok Maple has grown exponentially in the past two years and that growth comes with additional energy consumption, so we’re very happy that we have been able to find a renewable source for our electrical needs,” said co-founder Eric Sorkin.”
Prior to installing solar, Runamok Maple ensured its products were organic, its woods were bird-friendly, and its property was maintained for the native species to thrive.
Now, with a 150 kW-AC system powering its manufacturing processes, the company will continue to further its mission to be as environmentally sustainable as possible.
Norwich Solar Scope
The NST Project Team completed all design and engineering of the solar photovoltaic (PV) system, including obtaining all permits, inspections, reviews, and approvals from applicable regulatory agencies. We satisfied all interconnection requirements, procured all materials and components and completed commissioning of all equipment.
The Runamok Maple solar project will not only be cash positive in year one, thanks in part to a USDA Renewable Energy for America Program grant that offset 25% of project costs, but it is also expected to save over $43,000 in the first 12 months alone, with more than $1.2 million saved over the next 25 years. In addition, the Runamok Maple Solar PV array will offset nearly 2,400 tons of CO2, the equivalent of 10,400,000 miles not driven yearly.
