Norwich Solar Ranked As One of the Top Solar Contractors in the US by Solar Power World Magazine

Release Date: July 27, 2022

White River Junction, VT – On Monday July 25 Solar Power World magazine, the premier media outlet for the U.S. solar market, released its list of Top Solar Contractors in the US. The list ranks applicants according to their influence in the U.S. solar industry for the 2021 year of operations.

For the fourth year in a row, Solar Power World has listed Norwich Solar as one of the Top Solar Contractors in the country.

The company’s overall nationwide rank is #151 out of 411. When compared to other developers serving the commercial market, that places the company in the top half of comparable companies nationwide. The company is ranked 4th for total kilowatt capacity installed in Northern New England (VT, NH, ME).

The ranking is based solely on self-reported total kilowatts installed by each company. Norwich Solar reported installing 10,150 kW in 2021. The company has installed approximately 50,000 kW since it was founded in 2011.

“We are proud to be one of the many great companies installing solar in the United States – increasing our energy independence, reducing pollution, supporting local jobs, and helping customers save money.  Together, we can ensure a stable, resilient clean energy supply that benefits all communities in Northern New England,” says Troy McBride, Chief Technology Officer of Norwich Solar. He adds that, “Power generation from new solar installations in New England directly offsets fossil fuel generation. For example, Norwich Solar’s addition of 50,000 kW of solar arrays reduces natural gas consumption by about $200,000,000 in the next 25 years at current natural gas prices. That is a significant economic savings for our New England communities.”

At the time of the evaluation, Norwich Solar had completed 16 projects in Vermont and New Hampshire in 2021, including one utility-scale project in St. Johnsbury. Some local customers benefiting from these projects include: Good Neighbor Health Clinic; Danville, Cabot, and Twinfield Schools; a dozen local Kinney Drug Stores; Valley Cares affordable housing; Dan & Whits General Store, Twin Pines affordable housing, 30 local families participating in community solar; Towns of Newport and Enfield NH; Morrisons Feed Bag Store; Brattleboro Housing Authority affordable housing; Steps to End Domestic Violence; The Scholten Farm;; and several downtown White River Junction small businesses. Currently, the company has numerous projects in various stages of construction and development in 2022 and beyond to further their mission to advance the integration and deployment of affordable solar power.

The annual list of Top Solar Contractors evaluates hundreds of solar contractors and developers in the United States and includes solar PV companies that provide a range of services in the industry including: sales, EPC contracting, development, construction/installation, electrical subcontractor work and/or rooftop-specific installations. Companies can do work in any market segment, including utility, commercial, residential and off-grid.
